Martin Robinson - Non Executive Chairman
Martin Robinson was appointed Chairman in June 2010 having joined the company as Deputy Chairman in January 2010. Martin holds a number of other directorships and is Chief Executive of Braemar Securities Limited, an FSA regulated corporate finance businesses that specialises in raising venture capital for growing companies from private investors. He was previously Chief Executive of Henry Cooke Group plc, a stockbroking and investment management group that included Henry Cooke Lumsden plc and the Solus range of unit trusts, and was a director of Brown, Shipley & Co. Ltd, a private bank. Martin is a member of the North West Regional Advisory Group of the London Stock Exchange, and was its Chairman between 1996 and 2001. He was a founder member of the AIM Advisory Committee which was established in 1995 to oversee the creation of the AIM market. He is Vice President of Manchester Chartered Accountants.
Andrew Fickling - Chief Executive Officer
Sponsored throughout his university degree by Sport Newspapers, Andrew joined the company in 1991 as a manager within the IT department, where he led the implementation of IT infrastructure modernisation. Andrew became head of IT in 2000, Technical Director in 2002 and Executive Director Designate in 2004. During his tenure in this role he oversaw the closure of the Leicester offices of the company including the advertising, circulation and accounts departments and the recreation of these departments within the existing Manchester offices. He was appointed Managing Director of Sport Newspapers in 2007, and CEO of Sport Media Group plc in February 2008.
Neil Robertson - Group Finance Director
Having trained in accountancy practice for 12 years and qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant, Neil made the leap into industry in 2001. He joined Sport Newspapers in October 2006 and was initially responsible for the relocation of the finance function from Leicester to Manchester. He was made FD of Sport Newspapers in January 2008, and became Group Finance Director of Sport Media Group in November 2009.
Robert Johnson - Executive Director
Robert Johnson was previously a Board Director of Interactive World Plc standing down to make way for the merger into Sport Media Group. He is a Graduate of Cardiff University and has a background in Direct Response Advertising and Technology; he was for 4 years a board member for the Network for Online Commerce (subsequently AIME) and in this capacity was involved in industry liaison with OFCOM and Phone Pay Plus.
David Bailey - Non Executive Director
David Bailey is a Fellow of the Securities & Investment Institute, the professional qualifications and membership body for the securities and investment industry. He holds a number of other Directorships, of both public and private companies, including Non-Executive Chairman of GoIndustry plc and Deputy Chairman of DataCash Group plc, both AIM quoted.
John Maddock - Non Executive Director
John was appointed as non-executive Director in February 2008. He has held senior executive positions from Sports Editor to Managing Editor with the Daily Mirror, The People, and the Daily and Sunday Express in Manchester and London. He worked as a consultant between 1994 and 2006, culminating in the role of Group Managing Editor at Northern & Shell plc of the Daily and Sunday Express, Daily Star and Daily Star Sunday, OK!, New and Star magazines.
